MEDIA RELEASE - MONDAY, 1 SEPTEMBER, 2008

Minister for the TAC Tim Holding today announced the appointment of Janet Dore as the new CEO of the Transport Accident Commission (TAC).

Mr Holding said the appointment, which will take effect from 1 October, represents an exciting new chapter for the organisation as it gears up for its official relocation to Geelong in January, 2009.

“Ms Dore is a terrific ambassador for the move to Geelong and brings with her extensive experience in the public sector and the TAC as the Chief Claims Officer,” Mr Holding said.

TAC Chairman, Paul Barker said Ms Dore had made a considerable contribution to the TAC since joining in 2007.

“As the Chief Claims Officer, she has led over 320 staff and realigned management of the division in preparation for the move to Geelong,” Mr Barker said.

“Having previously served as Acting CEO, Ms Dore has demonstrated to the TAC Board and the organisation more widely her significant leadership skills and a strong strategic focus.

“The Board is confident that Janet – together with her executive team – will provide the vision, leadership and strategic direction necessary to ensure a continued smooth transition of the TAC to its new home in Geelong.”

Prior to joining the TAC in 2007, Ms Dore gained extensive experience in senior management positions at various councils including as CEO of Newcastle City Council and the City of Ballarat.
