SSC Terms and Conditions

Privacy Statement:

The TAC will collect and use your personal information such as name, date of birth, address, email details, for the purpose of entering this Competition and to send you further information about our future safety initiatives (if you opt to receive this information by ticking the box in the entry form).   If you do not provide the information and consent to release information requested on the entry form, you will not be able to enter the Competition.

The TAC will disclose your personal information to our marketing and promotional agency Taboo, who are assisting us run this competition.

If you are a Competition Prize Winner you are consenting to your name, date of birth and drivers licence being provided by us to VicRoads or any Licensing Regulator so that VicRoads or the Licensing Regulator can verify your age and advise us of your driving history.  This includes whether your licence is or has previously been suspended or cancelled for any reason.

The TAC will not disclose your information to anyone unless required by law. Once any personal information comes into the TAC’s possession, it will take reasonable steps to protect that information from misuse and loss, and from unauthorized access, modification or disclosure.  If you have any questions about how your personal information will be handled or would like to gain access or make correction to your personal information, you can contact us at askus@tac.vic.gov.au. Terms and Conditions:

The Split Second film competition is conducted by the Transport Accident Commission, ABN 22 033 947 623 of 60 Brougham Street Geelong Vic 3220 (Us/We/Our).

The Split Second film competition requires an entrant (You/Your), to provide the TAC with an idea for a short film or ad (up to 45 seconds) that answers the criteria contained in the brief on the competition page on the Transport Accident Commission website (www.tac.vic.gov.au/splitsecond) (Competition).

All instructions, information on how to enter and prize information published by Us related to the Competition form part of these Terms and Conditions.

Who can enter

You can enter this Competition if You:

  • are a resident of Victoria; and
  • are between 18 and 25 years of age as at 18th May, 2023 (Competition closing date); and
  • have never been disqualified from holding any drivers licence, or had any drivers licence suspended for any reason.

In order to verify Your age and Your driving history, You must consent to Us making a request to VicRoads (or the equivalent Licensing Regulator in any Australian state or territory) to provide, and VicRoads (or equivalent Licensing Regulator) providing to Us, details about Your age and driving history (see the Privacy Statement below for further details).

If You do not provide Your consent as required above, You will be unable to enter the Competition.

Only one person can be nominated as the entrant for each entry submitted for the Competition. Individuals entering the Competition must conduct themselves as individuals and must not involve any place of employment in the preparation of their Entry Materials.

How to enter

To enter the Competition, You must submit to Us:

  • a fully completed entry form (submitted through the link at www.tac.vic.gov.au/splitsecond); and
  • a synopsis articulating Your idea which answers the criteria at www.tac.vic.gov.au/splitsecond

(together the Entry Materials).

The Entry Materials must be Your original work.  You warrant that the Entry Materials do not infringe on anyone else’s intellectual property rights.

There is no fee to enter the Competition, but You are responsible for all of the costs of preparing the Entry Materials.

We will accept Entry Materials for the Competition from 9am on 23rd March 2023 until 11.59pm on 18th May 2023. You can submit your Entry Materials online at www.tac.vic.gov.au/splitsecond.

We do not accept any responsibility if Your Entry Materials are not received, in whole or in part, for any reason and You agree to make Your own enquiries regarding whether Your Entry Materials have been received by Us.

Once your entry is received by Us, your entry will become the property of the TAC and you hereby agree to irrevocably assign all of your intellectual property rights in your entry to the TAC, unless you withdraw your entry in accordance with these Terms and Conditions.

You are responsible for ensuring that You comply with these Terms and Conditions and all other legal requirements in relation to the Competition.

There is no limit on the number of entries You can submit to the Competition.

If You wish to withdraw Your entry from the Competition at any time, You must inform Us in writing via email to TACCorppartnerships@tac.vic.gov.au no later than 11.59pm on 18th May 2023. If notification of Your withdrawal of Your entry from the Competition is received by this time, Your entry will be returned.

Judging

The Competition will be judged by a judging panel comprising Our personnel, key road safety representatives, and advertising and/or film industry professionals. You will be notified if You are the Competition winner by email on or by Friday 23rd June 2023.

The Competition will be judged in accordance with the judging criteria published at www.tac.vic.gov.au/splitsecond.

The judging panel’s decision is final and no correspondence shall be entered into.

Winner

We will select one winner who will be announced by Friday 30th June 2023. Should You be selected as the winner, You will be required to sign any agreements and any other documentation relating to the production of your idea (Deliverable).

If You are selected as the winner, You will be required to attend a number of key production meetings. These meetings will take place between Monday 26th June 2023 – Friday 1st December 2023 (to be confirmed).

Prize

For each eligible entrant:

The first 350 entrants will receive two traditional Village or HOYTS cinema e-vouchers. This is at the discretion of Val Morgan and the TAC. Vouchers will be emailed to individual entrants, limited to two vouchers per the 350 entrants.  For avoidance of doubt, two single e-vouchers for Traditional Village Cinemas or HOYTS Cinemas voucher will be emailed to the individual entrant irrespective of the amount of entries they submitted.

HOYTS E-VOUCHER T&C’s

  • This voucher must be exchanged at the Box Office or Candy Bar or redeemed at HOYTS.com.au for your ticket.
  • This voucher is redeemable for one (1) general admission ticket for one (1) adult:
    • for any session (except Saturday and Sunday from 2pm onwards) at HOYTS cinemas in Australia (see website for more details)
    • for any D-BOX, 3D, Samsung Onyx, Lounge and/or Xtremescreen movie session with an upgrade fee, which will be applied at time of redemption
    • and is valid until the expiry date indicated and cannot be exchanged, extended or replaced.
  • If redeemed at HOYTS.com.au both the voucher number and PIN are required to be entered. Booking fees will apply.
  • This voucher cannot be:
    • redeemed and/or upgraded for HOYTS LUX, HOYTS Daybed or special or group events
    • redeemed on public holidays
    • redeemed at affiliated cinemas in Australia (see website for more details)
    • used to purchase 3D glasses. 3D glasses must be purchased separately at an additional cost
    • used in conjunction with any other offer
    • replaced or refunded if lost, stolen or damaged
    • used to purchase any pre-paid movie vouchers, gift cards or HOYTS Rewards memberships
    • exchanged for cash and change will not be given irrespective of cinema pricing
    • used and/or sold by a person or company as an incentive for a third party to purchase other goods or services or be incorporated into an offer by that person or company for a third party to purchase other goods or services without the prior written consent of The HOYTS Corporation Pty Limited

VILLAGE E-VOUCHER T&C’S

This voucher is valid for one movie session admission. Voucher can be redeemed online at villagecinemas.com.aueventcinemas.com.au or at the ticket box for movie sessions at participating cinema locations*. Vouchers cannot be redeemed until 24 hours after purchase. Seating is subject to availability.  Please redeem this voucher for a seat to your selected movie session. Not valid for Gold Class, group bookings, special events, movie marathons or in conjunction with any other offer or promotion unless otherwise stated. A surcharge applies for 3D, 4DX, Vmax, Vpremium, Vjunior and Dolby Atmos sessions. Booking fees may apply. It is the responsibility of the holder to redeem vouchers for a movie session scheduled on or before they expire. Vouchers are not refundable, not transferable and cannot be sold or exchanged for cash or other gift products. Lost or expired vouchers will not be extended, replaced or exchanged for cash. *Refer to villagecinemas.com.au or eventcinemas.com.au for applicable locations.

For the selected winners:

There will be two selected winners

First Place

A $70,000 budget will be allocated to the production of your idea. Industry experts will produce Your Deliverable, with Your input. The $70,000 production budget will be in the control of these industry experts and will fund the production of the Deliverable. We will not be liable for any expenses incurred by You.

If You are selected as the winner, We will pay You a cash prize of $5,000.00. The cash prize will only be paid to You if You have signed and complied with all agreements referred to in these Terms and Conditions.

We accept no responsibility for any tax implications that may arise from the payment of the cash prize to You. You should seek Your own independent financial advice about the payment of the cash prize.

The 45 second winning film content to be shown across nominated traditional cinema screens in Victoria from 19th October 2023 to 15th November 2023 (dates subject to change). Placement of the advertisement at the discretion of Val Morgan. Val Morgan may in its discretion not show the winning film content before G & PG rated films if Val Morgan considers the content to be unsuitable for this audience.

If You are selected as the winner, you will receive twenty (20) premium cinema tickets (either HOYTS LUX or Village Gold Class at the discretion of TAC).

HOYTS LUX Restricted E-Voucher – T&Cs

This voucher must be exchanged at the Box Office or Candy Bar or redeemed at HOYTS.com.au or the HOYTS app for your ticket.

This voucher is redeemable for one (1) HOYTS LUX admission ticket at HOYTS Cinemas in Australia:

  • or any HOYTS LUX session (except Saturday and Sunday from 2pm and onwards)
  • for any 3D HOYTS LUX or D-BOX session with an upgrade fee, which will be applied at time of redemption)
  • and is valid until the expiry date indicated and cannot be exchanged, extended or replaced after this date.

If redeemed at HOYTS.com.au or the HOYTS app, both the pass number and PIN are required to be entered. Booking fees will apply.

This voucher cannot be:

  • redeemed for special or group events
  • redeemed at affiliated cinemas in Australia (see website for more details)
  • redeemed on public holidays

This voucher is valid for one Gold Class movie session admission. Voucher can be redeemed online at villagecinemas.com.aueventcinemas.com.au or at the ticket box for movie sessions at participating cinema locations*. Vouchers cannot be redeemed until 24 hours after purchase. Seating is subject to availability.  Please redeem this voucher for a seat to your selected movie session. Not valid for group bookings, special events, movie marathons or in conjunction with any other offer or promotion unless otherwise stated. Patrons must be 18 years or older to consume alcohol. ID will be required. A surcharge applies for 3D sessions. Booking fees may apply. It is the responsibility of the holder to redeem vouchers for a movie session scheduled on or before they expire. Vouchers are not refundable, not transferable and cannot be sold or exchanged for cash or other gift products. Lost or expired vouchers will not be extended, replaced or exchanged for cash. *Refer to villagecinemas.com.au or eventcinemas.com.au for applicable locations.

Second Place

A $30,000 budget will be allocated to the production of your idea. Industry experts will produce Your Deliverable, with Your input. The $30,000 production budget will be in the control of these industry experts and will fund the production of the Deliverable. We will not be liable for any expenses incurred by You.

The content will be developed for social media use. It will be played in cinema as part of the launch screening event on 18th October (dates subject to change) at ACMI.

General

By entering this Competition, You accept these Terms and Conditions and agree to be bound by them.

All decisions made by Us in respect of the Competition are final and no correspondence will be entered into.

Whilst Your entry is still being considered by Us as part of the Competition, or if You are a Competition prize winner, You have an ongoing obligation to disclose any facts or information which may lead to or flow from a suspension or cancellation of any motor vehicle licence You hold or have held, whether in Victoria or interstate, to Us.

We reserve the right to refuse to progress Your entry if Your driver’s licence has been cancelled or suspended, if You have a pending cancellation or suspension, or if You are in dispute in relation to the cancellation or suspension of any driver’s licence You hold.

If Your Entry Materials in the Competition are submitted via the Internet, You acknowledge and agree that We are not responsible for technical failures or malfunctions or traffic congestion on the Internet.  We accept no responsibility for any virus or other harmful code that You may download in participating in this Competition.

As a condition of entry into this Competition and unless withdrawn under these Terms and Conditions, You agree to assign to Us all intellectual property rights in the Entry Materials and the Deliverables.

Despite the assignment of Your intellectual property rights to Us as outlined in above, We will grant You permission to enter Your Deliverable into subsequent competitions, subject to Us receiving appropriate recognition.

You agree to indemnify Us for any loss or damage that may be suffered by Us as a result of a breach of these Terms and Conditions by You.

To the full extent permitted by law, We and Our agencies and any of their personnel (Relevant Parties) exclude all liability for any loss (including any damage, claim, injury, cost or expense) whatsoever which is suffered or incurred by You arising out of, or in any way connected with, the Competition or prizes, including: (i) any indirect, economic or consequential loss; (ii) any loss, including consequential loss, arising from any negligent act or omission by any of the Relevant Parties; (iii) any liability for personal injury or death.
