Safer Roads
Roads play a vital part in helping reduce crashes and minimise the severity of injuries if there is an accident. The three most common road accidents in Victoria are caused by a vehicle leaving the road, at intersections and head-on collisions.
To reduce the impact of road accidents, we have committed $100 million per year or $1 billion over the life of the the Safer Road Infrastructure Program (SRIP). This funding goes towards:
- targeting high-risk accident locations
- installing roundabouts at intersections
- installing barriers
- run-off road preventions such as wider shoulders, ripple strips and wire barriers.
